COSCO Shipping Ports launches first direct break-bulk service China → Peru (Port of Chancay)

The vessel bound for Chancay is transporting more than 30,000 tons of break-bulk cargo, strengthening the logistical connection between China and Peru.

In September 2025, a direct maritime break-bulk cargo service began operating between Suzhou (Jiangsu Province, China) and the Port of Chancay, Peru.

The first vessel departed with more than 30,000 tons of irregular cargo —including energy-storage cabinets, round steel bars, and other industrial equipment— destined for the growing Peruvian market.

The new service is scheduled on a monthly basis, and the journey is expected to take approximately 32 days, reducing transit time compared to more traditional routes.

This corridor represents an important logistical opportunity for the Peruvian sector, especially for the import of large or heavy industrial goods that are not suitable for standard container transport. Likewise, it strengthens the position of the Port of Chancay as a strategic hub between China and South America.
